Minneapolis firm sees a third consecutive year of increased revenues
Minneapolis, Minn. (February 25, 2020) – A focus on generating revenue for clients in the agribusiness and food industries has translated into an exceptional period of growth for CLUTCH, a business acceleration firm based in the Twin Cities.
After starting inside a large communications firm as a business diversification strategy in 2015, CLUTCH spun out and began its independent journey in January of 2017 with just three employees. Fast forward to 2020 and the firm has grown to 15 employees and experienced 400 percent growth in revenue in just three years.
“Many consulting firms and agencies don’t spend much time thinking about how they will actually produce revenue for their clients,” said Troy Schroeder, President/Founder, CLUTCH. “We’re a hybrid of a consulting firm and a marketing agency, and that combination gives us a business-minded view along with creativity. We think both parts of that equation have been essential in delivering for our clients.”
In the company’s three years as an independently owned firm, CLUTCH has built a base of clients that stretch across the agriculture and food value chain, from start-ups to multi-national corporations. The firm includes a team of strategic marketing, sales, communications, and business professionals that have worked for and with leading brands in food and agriculture. They combine a whole-business view with the category-specific knowledge and inside insights that can only come from real-life experience and multiple perspectives.
The ensuing approach has been a difference maker for CLUTCH.
“Everyone on our leadership team has sat in a client chair, and run product lines, campaigns, market launches and budgets within a company,” said Schroeder. “And that gives us the perspective that everything we do has to create measurable business results for our clients, or otherwise it really doesn’t matter very much.”
In addition to strategy and growth consulting, marketing and lead generation, CLUTCH has experienced a surge in learning and development services. Schroeder attributes this demand to an influx of generational factors, technology advances, and complexity of the market.
“In the B2B space you hear a lot of discussion about technology-based marketing, which we also do in our mix of services as well, but at the end of the day, a great deal of selling is done on a person-to-person basis,” said Schroeder. “So your strategy can be on point, and your messaging and marketing approach is solid, but if your sales team doesn’t have the knowledge and skills they need to bring that forward, all of the work done to set up the opportunity is not going to be as successful as it could be.”
Schroeder said CLUTCH has stayed true to the focus in which they operate from the start: agriculture, food and complex B2B spaces.
“I’m humbled by the type of clients we have. We get to work every day with great companies that are doing interesting and impactful things. And I’m also humbled by the talent we have on our team. Combining our collective experiences allows us to make good things happen for our clients, even in a market like agriculture that has been significantly depressed the last few years. We’re excited to see what the next chapter of growth will bring.”
CLUTCH is a hybrid consultancy and agency focused on helping B2B businesses find and realize their peak potential. As business acceleration experts, everything the firm does is designed to drive the growth of revenue and opportunity. The firm combines a mix of strategic consulting, marketing communications and lead generation, and learning and development services to consistently produce business results for clients.
